The Philippines’ Modern Houses are usually referred to as Tropical Architecture. It implies the deliberate placement of architectural components to offer protection from the unique elements of tropical weather. Remember that having an open, bright, and breezy living environment is emphasized by Filipino design.
Dr. Michael Manalo once described Philippine culture as colorful. This has something to do with color expressions in colonial architecture, the subsequent path to their disappearance, and some indications of color and ornamental revival.
Evident of this change is Hotel America, an infrastructure located in Malabanias Angeles, Pampanga. Its design adopts the Filipino tropical home, highlighting the infrastructure’s Faded Rainbow Design. Long before civilization, before the Hispanic era, Filipinos are in caves and rock shelters. When the Spaniards came, the Antillean style of architecture has been introduced. Until such time, “bahay na bato” or stone house and the two-story house is adopted. When Americans invaded the Philippines, they introduced various materials used in building such architecture. Due to modernism, Philippine architecture uses concrete, steel, and glass. At present, especially skyscrapers and microcities have adopted tripartite architecture. It demonstrates the vivid use of pastel colors and the combination of ornaments and styles.
The eventual change of Philippine architecture gradually transforms it into engaging and colorful ones. As one of these is Hotel America, which showcases the colorful vibes and spirit of Philippine Architecture through its faded rainbow design. This only shows that development and change of culture are hence evident.
Inspired by the distressed facade of Hotel America, we created a rainbow pattern on our carpet which is flamboyantly attractive to the customers’ eyes. We used one color whose strip pattern starts from lightest to darkest and includes black color to add highlights. The design is perfect for personal rooms and even offices.
