These Industrial materials resemble the facade of Centre Pompidou

Inaugurated in 1977, the Pompidou Center is a Parisian landmark. The building is located in the 4th arrondissement of Paris and was named after the president who envisioned it. Georges Pompidou was president of France from 1962 until 1968. President Pompidou wanted a space dedicated to the culture of the 20th and 21st centuries. This space would bring together visual arts, literature, music, cinema, and design in one multicultural institution.

The Pompidou became what the French president always wanted and more. The building has extensive galleries featuring visiting exhibitions and selections from its permanent collection of artworks. Additionally, it also features a cinema, a public library, and much more. However, the building was only inaugurated by Pompidou’s successor, Valery Giscard d’Estaing.

A unique aspect of the architecture of Pompidou is the exterior. Rather than hiding pipes and structural utilities, everything is exposed and brightly colored. Giving the facade of a bunch of industrial materials glued together. This was a completely new type of architecture, thought up by Richard Rogers and Renzo Piano.

Inspired by the architecture of Pompidou, we recolored the Echo carpet. This carpet is part of the Graphic collection, which takes inspiration from geometry, hoops, stripes, 3-dimensional grids, and typography. This unique carpet recolor uses the lines created by the industrial materials of the construction of the Pompidou as its main inspiration.

With the carpet and the Pompidou center in mind, we created a colorful material board. For this mood board, we included metallic materials like Deco Arrows by Decorative Ceiling Tiles. Additionally, we included gray tones, such as Midnight Dream and Broken Slate. To bring in pops of color, similar to the piping of the Parisian building, we included Echopanel 24mm Felt by Kirei, Boho by Paul Brayton Designs, and Manhattan by Camira.

With our Recolor program, you can choose the color of any of our many carpet designs. Additionally, you can choose any of our nine substrates to take your project to the next level. Our online tool allows you to easily visualize what the color will look like. Contact us to learn more about the program and choose the perfect carpet for your next project.
