Industrial palette inspired by Fransje Gimbrère at the Róhe Frames studio

The standout in Róhe Frames studio is not necessarily their product. But a captivating art installation. The Amsterdam-based brand and studio decorated the space for Amsterdam Fashion Week with curated vintage furniture and an installation by artist Fransje Gimbrère. Róhe Frames explores contemporary shapes through distinct design elements and precise craftsmanship.

Gimbrère’s installation is called Crafted Columns, in which Gimbrère took inspiration from various knitting techniques to create these beautiful installations made of black yarn. In making the installation, the artist explored many possibilities in which a single yarn can be manipulated by hand into a new form. This installation shows the beauty and versatility of such a simple material. The Crafted Columns explore the dialog between fashion, craftsmanship, art, and collaborations in a physical space where all disciplines coexist.

Inspired by the interior design choices in the Róhe Frames studio, we decided to recolor the Morning Dew carpet by ege carpets. As part of the Highline Express Nature Collection, this and many other carpets are inspired by natural elements, including wood, flowers, sand, stone, and water. We wanted to create an industrial palette for this material board for this carpet recolor to stand out.

We wanted to include materials that were added to the industrial palette for the material board. Therefore, we included light-colored stones like Fragments by Highstyle Stone and Tile and Dover Wall Tile by Porcelanosa. Additionally, we included darker stones like Nero Marquina by Neolith and Cembrit Patina Rough by American Fiber Cement Corporation. We also included Eco-Terr Tiles – Bergamo Black by COVERINGS ETC to add a unique texture to the board. Walnut Flat Cut by Jacaranda Inc. adds a warm touch of wood tones. Lastly, no industrial palette is complete without a metallic touch. Therefore, we included Alumasteel by Wilsonart.

If you want to find the perfect color for one of our many carpet designs, Talk Carpet’s recolor program is ideal for you. You can choose any of our nine carpet substrates to take your project to the next level. Additionally, our online tool lets you quickly visualize what the recolor will look like. Get inspired by the Chocolate hills of Bohol with our Tropical interior palette

Located in the middle of the island of Bohol in the Philippines, the Chocolate Hills are a group of uniquely shaped hills that add to the island’s beautiful landscape. The island has at least 1268 hills, which are 120 meters tall at most. It is still unknown how the hills were formed. One of the more popular legends is that long ago, two giants fought for days until they became exhausted and became friends. Geologists say the hills are weathered formations of marine limestone lying on top of an impenetrable clay base.

Regardless of how the Chocolate Hills came to be, the view from the panoramic observation deck was a truly unique experience. Although the hills are of varying heights, the view from the observation deck makes them seem symmetrical. The brown color of the hills peeking through the dense forest of palm trees creates a breathtaking view.

We were inspired by the Cholate Hills to recolor the Windy Foliage carpet. This unique carpet is part of the Highline Express Nature Collection, which takes inspiration from forests, deserts, and oceans to create vivid carpet designs. We decided to recolor it in shades of green, reminiscent of the dense forest of palm trees from the breathtaking view we got to experience.

We were highly inspired to create a tropical interior palette for the material board. Therefore, we decided to include dark brown materials like Serenissima Fossil by Conestoga Tile, Velvet Radiance by Valley Forge Fabrics, Pebble Shagreen by Laminart, Film Noir Porcelain Panel by Crossville, OAK Vulcano by mafi America Inc, and Re_Micron by Garden State Tile. We also included cream-colored stones to add texture to the board by adding Angela Harris Dunmore Ceramic Tile by TileBar and Pinch by Daltile. We also included Marea by Foglizzo Leather for a pop of color. Lastly, we included green-toned textiles like Boho by Paul Brayton Designs and Frieze by Pallas Textiles.

Our recolored wavy floral carpet translates Locomotion by Michael Lin to life

The Museum of Contemporary Art and Design is showcasing Michael Lin: Locomotion. This is Lin’s first solo presentation in the Philippines. He is internationally known for creating site-specific painted installations. His work focuses on redesigning and reconfiguring public spaces and giving them more dynamic. His previous projects included the reconfigurations of bookstores, community halls, atriums, and much more.

For this exhibit, Lin created something that was specially made for the MCAD in Manila. He enveloped the gallery’s walls with an uninterrupted and fluid floral arrangement. The walls were adorned with his signature decorative patterns based on traditional Taiwanese textiles. Additionally, he includes small details that pay homage to his simple childhood and Taiwanese culture.

Inspired by Lin’s work, we decided to recolor the Organic Leaf carpet. The colors we chose for the wavy floral carpet are warm and very reminiscent of the feel of Lin’s installation at MCAD. For the material board, we wanted to play with the color palette of the warm tones present in Lin’s floral design. We included warm brown tones by adding Retreat by Momentum Textiles & Wallcovering and Bye Bye Birdie by Anzea. Additionally, we included RePly by imagine tile to the mix to add some green and a unique pattern. We also included Passion by Emser Tile to add the light pink of the flowers. Lastly, we included lighter-toned materials like Adare Manor by Architex and Greenmount Silk by Benjamin Moore.

A material palette perfect for a neutral Interior design

Bea Valdes is a renowned Filipino accessories designer from a family that has been involved in the fine jewelry business for three generations. Therefore, she knows the ins and outs of the industry. Valdes’ first bag collection was launched in 2004. Her pieces showcased an intricate work of semi-precious stones, beads, crystals, fabrics, and feathers. Valdes has also dabbled in furniture design in collaboration with Philux. The Hearth Collection featured Valdes’ playful painting technique and handiwork.

In September of 2022, Bea Valdes was named Vogue Philippines’ editor-in-chief. Unlike other editors-in-chief of the magazine, Valdes does not come from an editorial or styling background. However, she has made a name for herself and was featured in Vogue, Harper’s Bazaar, the New York Times, CNN, Financial Times, and Time.

Inspired by Bea Valdes’ designs, we recolored the Concrete Relief carpet. This carpet is part of the Highline Express Graphics Collection, which features designs inspired by geometry, hoops, stripes, three-dimensional grids, and expressive typography. This recolor helped us create a material board that can create a neutral interior design.

With the recolored carpet and Valdes’ designs in mind, we created a material board in neutral tones featuring various textures. We brought various stones like Novabell Sovereign by Conestoga Tile, Aggregato Terrazzo by Design and Direct Source, Skinny Stone Veneer by Karen Pearse Global Direct, and Lundhs Blue® by Lundhs Real Stone. We also brought a warm brown with Lake Placid Crypton by Designtex. Lastly, we included neutral and warm-toned paints like Bridgewater Tan by Benjamin Moore and Maple Valley by Benjamin Moore.

If you want to find the perfect color for one of our many carpet designs, Talk Carpet’s recolor program is ideal for you. Spanish colonial design palette inspired by the buildings of Vigan

One of the best-preserved areas of a Spanish colonial town is in the Philippines. Vigan is a must for any visitor. The town was established in the 16th century, and its architecture reflects the coming together of cultural elements from the Philippines, China, and Europe. Vigan comprises around 187 residential, institutional, commercial, and religious structures. All with a rich Spanish colonial design element.

Before colonization, houses in the town were made from lightweight materials, including bamboo, nipa, and cogon. When the Spaniards came, the locals learned how to prepare stone to make bricks. Additionally, they learned about fire-resistant materials and how to choose materials to better withstand typhoons and fires. The houses in Vigan feature architectural styles from various cultures, creating some truly unique ones.

Inspired by Vigan’s color palette and various textures, we created a material board with the Blush Blinds Rug as the palette’s star. Its terracotta coloring is very natural, while the repetitive geometric shapes create a more modern approach. We also loved how this color is very neutral, allowing you to add this area rug to any interior design project. Not to mention, the minimalistic feel of the rug gives it a timeless look.

For the material board, we wanted to continue to be inspired by the Spanish colonial design and chose neutral colors. We decided to add some dark brown stones like Nox Corten Nature by Porcelanosa and Iron Corten by Neolith. We also included a dark wooden material by adding Reclaimed Teak Engineered Smooth Flooring by IndoTeak Design. Additionally, we added some light-toned materials, including Creamy by Sherwin-Williams and Taj Mahal by Porcelanosa. For the finishing touch, we included a beautifully textured and dark stone like Lundhs Antique® by Lundhs Real Stone.

Talk Carpet’s new rug shop is a great option to add just the right finishing touch to your design project with an area rug. We offer the best commercial-grade area rugs made from recycled nylon. You will find one that fits your project. Contact us to learn more!

This dotted square carpet is the background for this new material palette

While visiting Manila, we were delighted to check out Intramuros, an urban district and historic walled city within metropolitan Manila. The name comes from the Spanish word that means “within walls,” which refers to the fortified city founded at the mouth of the Pasig river in 1571. The city remained under Spanish rule until 1898 and was the center of the Spanish occupation. In this walled city lived influential and wealthy citizens of colonial Manila. Natives and Chinese people were prohibited from living inside Intramuros; only the Spanish elite and their offspring were.

The walled city is a gorgeous place to visit, with a piece of history that still stands, despite the many battles, fires, and earthquakes. You can visit museums, walk the cobblestone streets with lamp posts from the 1800s, and check out the old Spanish houses that add color to Intramuros’s otherwise grey landscape.

Inspired by the architecture of Intramuros, we decided to recolor the Chain Dot carpet, which is a part of the culture collection. This collection features designs that are spiritual, religious, and tribal-inspired. We decided to recolor the dotted square carpet with neutral cream and dark red accents. Similarly, we chose to include neutral-colored materials and small pops of color for this material board.

For the recolored Chain Dot carpet to really pop, we decided to include neutral materials like Pendle Hill by Cambria, HPL-Abstracts by Greenlam Laminates, San Gabriel Norman Brick by Fireclay Tile, and Lampblack by Benjamin Moore. These almost grey-toned materials are very reminiscent of the grey landscape of the walled city. Additionally, we included a warmer tone of brown by adding Dark Clove by Sherwin-Williams to bring that old historic town aspect. For a pop of color, we included Josef by Designtex, and Colors by New Jersey Tile and Stone.

If you want to find the perfect color for one of our many carpet designs, Talk Carpet’s recolor program is ideal for you. You can choose any of our nine carpet substrates to take your project to the next level. Additionally, our online tool lets you quickly visualize what the recolor will look like.
