While visiting Leeds, we walked by the Leeds Playhouse. The building was designed by Appleton Partnership and opened in 1990. It has two theatre spaces, the Quarry and the Courtyard Theatre. However, the building faced issues that did not meet today’s audience’s needs and wants. In 2016, Page/Park Architects began to renovate and extend the playhouse. The project consisted of a new entrance extension, a brand-new entrance onto Playhouse Square, and new internal foyers.
The most unique aspect of this project by Page/Park Architects is the front of the playhouse. The frontage consists of ceramic triangles of various colors, which look exquisite in contrast with the historical building. The use of ceramics brings a three-dimensional façade that changes depending on the lighting and adds to the geometry of the building. The building looks beautiful both in the daylight and at night. Additionally, the new entrance delivers an unforgettable visual identity and beauty to the city’s cultural quarter.
Inspired by the ceramic façade of the Leeds Playhouse, we create a triangle custom carpet. We decided to create a pattern very similar to ceramic triangles with a variety of green tones. This unique custom carpet brings in some color to a rather neutral room. Additionally, it also brings in a modern touch with geometric shapes and unique patterns.
If you want to feature a triangle carpet in your next design project or create your design, check out the custom carpet program. The program allows you to create any design you would like to match your next interiors project. Additionally, you can choose from nine different substrates and get a sample within just five business days. We partnered with DIFFA’s specify with care program, in which we donate one percent of all custom carpet revenues to fight against AIDS/HIV. Contact us if you want to learn more.
