when visiting Paris, you definitely have to check out Le Train Bleu. This restaurant was first unveiled in 1901 by French President Emile Loubet and quickly attracted the high society. The restaurant was built by Marius Toudoire, the famous architect who created the Gare de Lyon clocktower and façade. The inside of Le Train Bleu is everything that was the Belle Epoque. Breathtaking painted ceilings, dazzling chandeliers, navy furniture, and gold accents transported to the time when Paris was at its peak.
This beautiful restaurant was created for the Universal Exhibition and became “Le Train Bleu” in 1963, as a tribute to the Paris-Vintimille line from 1868, which served towns in the French Riviera along the Mediterranean Coast. Additionally, the restaurant became a historic monument in 1972.
The unique experience of entering this beautiful design restaurant inspired us to recolor the Antique carpet. This classic carpet design is part of the arts and crafts collection, which features handmade motifs and textures that pay homage to vintage patterns. This recolor features golden and navy blue colors to pay homage to the most prominent colors in Le Train Bleu.
We wanted to continue paying homage to the Belle Epoque for this material board. Therefore, we included navy blue textiles like Sand by Cortina Leathers and Solid by Outdura. We also included wooden materials like Saloon and IndoTeak’s Reclaimed Teak. Additionally, we wanted to bring in the gold theme that was so prominent in the historic period by adding Polished Gold Aluminum by Wilsonart. We also included a variety of neutral tones with Pancake Syrup, Satchel, and Quiver Tan. Lastly, we added the timeless look of a light textile by adding Bennet by JAB.
Our new rug shop is a great option to add just the right finishing touch to your design project. We bring the best commercial-grade area rugs made from recycled nylon, just like our carpet rolls. Additionally, Talk Carpet’s rug shop features an online tool, which allows you to visualize your choice better and choose the size to your liking. Contact us to add a classic carpet design area rug to your next project.
