Retro color palette with a wink to Dimore Studio at Milan Design Week

Dimore Studio Moodboard Talk Carpet

When looking for inspiration to create a retro color palette, we took some from our visit to Dimore Studio and their inspiring exhibit at the Milan Design Week. Emiliano Salci and Britt Moran are the creatives behind this brand, whose main idea is to evoke emotions through design. Their nicely curated exhibition reflects the studio’s signature style, featuring an abundance of warm colors.

We loved the lively color scheme, so we interpreted its vibe into a retro color palette. The different textures and combination of prints inject a dose of energy into the space, creating a bold mood board. We start with Necktie RECOLORED by ege carpets to bring an amount of texture. This simple design brings the elements together while adding visual interest. ReForm A New Wave Sand by ege carpets is a neutral tone that blends perfectly into the defined color scheme.

To build the unique retro color palette, we thought of adding a moody and dark element. Zellige Noir by Tabarka Studio perfectly fits this description while bringing visual touch with unique tile texture. Templeton by Architex is an upholstery fabric with a warm tone meant to bring cozy vibes. The fine texture fits the overall idea of creating a mood board with charming retro vibes.

Brass by La Bastille is the ideal material for a countertop. The warm brass tone brings charm and character to this palette, while the distinctive texture will spice things up. To enhance the retro look, we thought of adding an intriguing pattern. Moderne Geo by Thorntree comes with a unique geometric design, creating a unique tile pattern. Turquoise Chain by Kriskadecor adds a pop of color, providing freshness for our retro color palette. While the chain curtains are a special feature, they will visually divide the space into different zones. COIKI001 by Kyogo is a beautiful wallpaper that fits the color scheme while not overpowering the remaining elements. We brought a luxurious touch with Jali Cascata 100% by Sensitile. The fantastic patterns refract the light, making this material the ultimate choice for screens and dividers.

This carefully curated mood board features an energetic color scheme with retro vibes. We played with textures to add a dose of dimension while still keeping the charming, warm color tones. If you loved the retro color palette, don’t miss checking Talk Carpet’s Recolor program. Sitting right next to Pompidou in Paris is Atelier Brancusi. This place is a reconstruction of the studio of renowned Romanian-born artist Constantin Brancusi. In the atelier, there are 137 sculptures, 87 bases, 41 drawings, two paintings, and more than 1600 grass photographic plates and prints by the artist.

Brancusi died in 1957, leaving behind a lot of his work in his studio, which consisted of 11 joined studios. The Romanian artist would break down walls to adjoin studios and create various environments to exhibit his work. He considered the relationship between sculptures and the space they occupied to be of crucial importance.

In 1997, the Atelier Brancusi as we know it today opened its doors on the esplanade of the Center Pompidou. So much of Brancusi’s work is on display at the atelier, giving you an idea of how much the artist put into the world. There are wood and plaster sculptures, bronze colonnades, animal shapes, and photographic studies. It is a beautiful and inspiring place to visit.

Inspired by the stone and natural textures of Brancusi’s work, we recolored the Stone Surface carpet. This is part of the nature collection by ege carpets, which takes inspiration from forests, deserts, and oceans. This light recolor of the carpet allows you to bring a textured palette to your next interior design project.

We created a material board that focuses on a textured palette with the atelier colors and the recolored carpet in mind. We included dark woods like Texas Mesquite 83000 and Artisanal Hardwoods. Keeping the dark brown theme, we also included different textured textiles like Artisan Textured Finishes by CopperSmith, Basketcase by Cortina Leathers, Lafayette Velvet by Opuzen, and Chesney by Valley Forge Fabrics. Additionally, we decided to bring some lighter tones of cream and white by adding Cove, True Terrazzo, Concrete Look Porcelain Paver, and Passion. To tie in the soft colors with the dark ones, we included mid-toned neutral paints like Crewel Tan by Sherwin-Williams and Mesa Tan by Dunn-Edwards Paints.

If you like our textured palette, you might be interested in our Easy Recolor Program.
