The Grande Halle de La Villette in Paris is hosting a unique exhibition called Pop Air. The exhibit features work by more than 15 international abstract artists. In collaboration with the Balloon Museum in Rome, this exhibit is an immersive and playful art project. The Grande Halle is completely transformed into a journey into the world of inflatable art that frees your imagination, no matter your age.
Formerly a slaughterhouse, the Grande Halle de La Villette is an enormous cultural center. La Villette was a warehouse district and industrial section of northeastern Paris. The Grande Halle was constructed between 1865 and 1867 and designed by Jules de Merindol and Louis-Adolphe Janvier. In 1970, Paris conceded the Villete’s land and management to the national government. By 1974, the slaughterhouses ceased operations, and in 1979 they became a historical monument.
The inflatable piece in the exhibition is what inspired us most. It features shapes and pastel colors. Therefore, we created this abstract polka dots carpet. The carpet features pastel blues, pinks, and pops of yellow. It is a unique and modern addition to any interior project. Not to mention that it adds a pop of color to any minimalistic environment.
