During our stay at the renowned Fife Arms in Braemar, Scotland, we spotted some knitted installations all over the town. We came to understand that it was all done by the Deeside Knitwits. They are an inclusive knitting community both virtual and local to Braemar. The group creates knitted installations to raise awareness and raise funds for local charities. Our home for the trip, Fife Arms, has some of the group’s artwork in the playroom.
The Deeside Knitwits works include recreations of famous art pieces and unique installations like phone booths. Additionally, there are trails featuring their craftwork. We were particularly inspired by the project in Braemar, which featured a wide installation of beautifully knitted flowers over a wall. We particularly liked a section of the installation that featured cold tones against the vivid green background.
Inspired by the knitting installation in Braemar, we created a moss custom carpet. This is a unique carpet, perfect for bringing some playful nature to any interiors project. For this carpet, we created a carpet featuring various green tones and pops of color with the blue flowers, similar to the Deeside Knitwits’ work. Additionally, the pattern features some knitting patterns that bring in more texture to the moss carpet.
If you want to bring in a little bit of nature into your next interiors project, this carpet is a great option. However, if you’re going to create your carpet design, check out our custom carpet program. The program allows you to create any carpet design you want to fit into your vision for your project. Additionally, you can pick any of our nine available substrates adapted to various install environments and price levels. Not to mention, we partnered with DIFFA’s specify with care program, in which we donate one percent of all custom carpet sales to help fight against AIDS/HIV. Contact us for more information.
