Jacob Hashimoto’s dreamy cloud installations are a masterpiece that makes you reflect. He assembles large ceiling installations to make them appear to be 3-dimensional kaleidoscope artworks. Hashimoto creates illusions of deep space when looking up at his pieces. He lifts different parts of the installation and fills surrounding areas, so the artwork looks different from all angles. Similarly, we’re splitting the hallway with our brand new hotel corridor carpet. Or any corridor looking to impress, actually.
His piece called Infinite Expanse of Sky and Superabundant Atmosphere is the main inspiration behind this carpet design. The left half of the piece looks like a giant blue sky across the ceiling, but you can see that they are small blue rectangle kites when looking closely. The right half looks like a cluster of big white clouds. When looking closely, it is an array of white circle kites. The original sculpture was created in 1998 and is one of his most significant installations to date. Metal road lifts the kites at different lengths, so the sky looks 3D. The sky looks different from every angle, so the audience has a sensory experience moving around while looking up.
Our split carpet design pays tribute to Hashimoto’s infinite cloudy sky. We combine two existing custom patterns: Our North Sea Corals and our Japanese Kumiko Pattern. The Kumiko-style geometric pattern on the right creates a beautiful design resembling the bamboo framework that shapes the circles’ structure. The left coral carpet pattern makes it look like a compilation of clouds lined up together. The two carpet designs are placed side by side as one large broadloom carpet. The beautiful design will make the interior space spectacular, just like Hashimoto’s dreamy cloud ceiling.
Inclusively, we also use organic materials such as ECONYL regenerated nylon for our carpets. Talk Carpet is now also a part of DIFFA’s specify with care program, and 1% of sales revenue will be donated to DIFFA to fight against HIV/AIDS.
