Welcome to episode 1 of the brand new Talk Carpet Travel Series. We have transitioned from shorter vlogs to a more comprehensive format where we take the time to dive deep into the local Guatemalan design.
Our creative director Christophe takes you on an inspirational trip through amazingly colorful and vibrant Guatemala. In our travel series, we dive deep into the design culture of a specific country. By discovering its colors, textures, and patterns we try to understand deeper-rooted cultural customs and traditions. Guatemala is home to a rich history of Mayan culture, tracing back to over 3,000 years ago. Christophe explores multiple towns and goes on a discovery trip of local materials. Throughout the trip, these materials are selected to represent Guatemalan design and placed together in an interiors materials palette. The culmination of our Guatemala travel series is assembling this mood board into a gorgeous palette, all in the magical setting of the Mayan complex of Tikal. In this Guatemala Travel Series we visit the old colonial town Antigua and the marvels of Lake Atitlan with its small villages filled with vibrant colors. The grand finale of this episode is our visit to the Mayan complex of Tikal, where ancient history meets current design aesthetics.
