Located in Hormuz, Iran, the Presence in Hormuz 2 is an urban renewal project. This project is uniquely designed to tie island locals and visitors with colorful architecture. ZAV architects were hired to develop a residential neighborhood out of multicolored houses shaped like domes and rounded pyramids. The community homes are built in a variety of earthy tones. You can see shades of yellow, orange, blue, and green to match the ocean and rocky scenery just steps from the village.
While constructing the earth-toned homes, designers used Nader Khalili’s unique superadobe technique, building ceramic houses out of soil and sand. The village is a unique use of traditional clay houses to bring some modernity while still paying homage to the town’s history. The uniquely designed community was ranked among many notable awards, including the Iranian Architecture Award of Memar and the Taipei International Design Award in 2020.
Inspired by the earth tones of the community, we recolored our existing Grainy Crystal carpet by ege carpets. We transformed the pattern to match the colorful dome shapes of the houses. This beautiful carpet recolor is now a part of the Trends & Colors collection. The whole collection consists of new carpet recolors that our team adds every week. It is an excellent option if you want to include a trendy carpet for your next interiors project. Not to mention, this carpet is a unique option to have the modernity of geometric shapes with the traditional feel of earth tones.
