While visiting Bogota, we got to see the beautiful palace that Adrian Gaitan created at NC-Arte. The artist created a uniquely crafted palace similar to the summer homes of French kings and noble families. An ornamental chandelier stands at the center, a noble damask back wall, a piano, and a golden-framed mirror. However, a surprise awaits the visitor when getting closer to each décor item.
Once you get closer to the grand chandelier, you will be able to see that it is not made of dazzling and expensive crystals. Instead, hanging from the chandelier are used tea bags that Gaitan recycled over the quarantine. The noble damask back wall is actually made of canvas sacks. The piano is made of the back of a couch and the keys are old books. Gaitan’s exhibit pays homage to how much the working class aimed to have a home that resembled that of the nobility and high-class. Additionally, Gaitan manages to turn trash into stunning works of art.
Inspired by Gaitan’s ability to create a high-class environment with items of the working class, we created a classic carpet inspired by the back wall of the exhibit. The noble damask is a classic pattern and the teal and gold color pallet adds a Versace-inspired touch to it. This allows this classic pattern to be a little more daring and modern. The bold colors are sure to look great in your next daring interior design project.
