Christian Lacroix carpet recolored to match Sylvie Fleury art installation

Featuring in the Thaddeus Ropac museum, are Sylvie Fleury’s Palettes of Shadows. Fleury is a Swiss contemporary artist, who creates conceptual art. Critiquing superficiality, she follows in the steps of Marcel Duchamp and Andy Warhol. Many of her works are similar to pop art and use vibrant colors. Her installation explores geometrical patterns and shapes. The shapes are similar to those in a large-scale woman’s make-up palette. The shapes and colors mimic eyeshadow and compact cases. Also, they resemble luxury brand make-up palettes that are widely known. We’re using this as the starting point for our materials palette, featuring a recolored Christian Lacroix carpet.

One of the installations in the exhibit is in a black square shape and looks like Chanel’s eyeshadow palettes. Others in a gold outline are similar to other luxury brand palettes such as YSL and Dior. Following Fleury’s previous exhibitions which include a luxury bag that is out of context, her new works also explore feminism.

Similarly, we translate Fleury’s exhibition into one of our Christian Lacroix carpet designs. We recolor the Carreaux design into a colorful pink and purple. The geometric shapes incorporate small squares inside of a bigger square, mimicking traditional ceramic tiled floors. The outlines are in beautiful pastel pink, and the purple squares create a beautiful geometric design. The pastel tones are similar to Fleury’s eyeshadow palettes using purple and pink shadows.

For our palette, we use a recolored version of Carreaux as the backdrop. We use other contract materials to translate Sylvie Fleury’s exhibition, such as Vidar by Kvadrat. We also include Exagoni Dimension Ceramic Wall Tile by TileBar, Claridge Glass by Claridge Products, and Spiritual Purple by Durasein. The Cheerful Yellow by Durasein looks just like the yellow squares and circles on the museum wall. We also feature The Fine Lines Terrazzo by Giovanni Barbieri, Muse by Viatera, Gradient Stripe by Paul Smith by Maharam, Mandarin by Wolf-Gordon, and Echelon Ecru by Sherwin-Williams.
