Walking throughout the center of Paris, you notice all the uniquely built passageways that go through buildings. One of the most beautiful passages is Galerie Vivienne. This covered walkway is located between Palais-Royal and La Bourse. The Galerie was designed by Francois Jean Delannoy and built in 1823. The Galerie was a way to allow Parisian to shop away from the rain, have tea, and dine after visiting their favorite stores.
Nowadays, the beautiful Galerie still stands with its gorgeous mosaic floors, laid by Giandomenico Facchina. Daylight is beautifully filtered into the gallery through the tall arched glass ceilings. Much like many buildings in Paris, the gallery was in danger of being demolished in the 70s. However, the gallery became a historical monument in 1974.
The gallery has three entrances, but the most beautiful is via Rue des Petits-Champs. This entrance is flanked on both sides by the quaint Bistro Vivienne. You can find numerous boutiques at the gallery offering pret-a-porter couture or home décor. If you love books, Librairie Jousseaume has rare books in its collection, including volumes that date back to the 18th century.
We were inspired by the beautiful mosaic floors of the gallery. Therefore, we created a custom carpet featuring similar shapes, designs, and colors. This mosaic carpet pattern is a unique way to add color to any interior design project. We decided to make the round shapes of the carpet smaller and more frequent than the flooring of the gallery. This is perfect if you want the carpet to be the center of attention in the room.
