Located in the South of France, we visit Villa Datris, a small foundation based in Provence. The gallery features pieces made from repurposed old waste materials. One particular artwork in Villa Datris caught our attention with its range of green tones. It is almost resembling moss. This piece is assembled from old bottle caps and electronic parts and arranged to look like a tribal headdress. It is a unique way to draw references and critique how much waste gets sent to African wastelands.
The artwork features forest and lime green tones that create a beautiful contrast against the black tones. Additionally, it brings a juxtaposition of nature and technology. The electronic pieces and the nature-like tones of the green make it one-of-a-kind. Overall, it gives you the sense of nature and technology seeming like opposites yet intertwined.
