With the pandemic, outdoor dining has become more popular. Therefore, bringing interior design ideas outside has also seen an increase in popularity. Not to mention, people working from home have also helped grow this trend. As we are stuck at home more, we tend to crave nature, and our love for all things nature grows even stronger. Therefore, there has been a trend for biophilic design. This type of interior design brings the outdoors inside and involves a lot of plants, unique lighting choices, colors, and materials.
While traveling around Europe, we were able to witness this new biophilic trend in restaurants like Restaurant Botanica in Madrid, the Palacio de Viana Courtyards in Cordoba, Mama Shelter in Marseille, and many more. This type of interior design makes us feel like we are part of nature and the environment around us.
Inspired by bringing the outdoors inside, we created a recolor of the Bamboo Forest carpet and made it available as a bamboo leaves area rug. The carpet features bright and darker tones of green, making you feel like you are being transported to a bamboo forest in the heart of Japan. This carpet is a part of the nature collection, which takes inspiration from natural elements to bring the outdoors inside.
Keeping biophilic design trends in mind, we created a material board that features unique textures and colors. To continue the green theme, we chose Duet by Design and Direct Source. Additionally, we added some unique wood texture with Incline by LBI Boyd Design Resource. Lastly, we included the brightness of Soft Fun by Curator and the neutral tones of Plymouth Brown to tie everything together.
