It is no surprise that the streets of London can be gloomy and dark most days, but not anymore. A British Nigerian designer brought some color to the busy streets of this major city. Yinka Ilori created exuberant technicolor “murals” for eleven pedestrian crossings in central London. The city invested in Ilori’s art to increase domestic touring in the UK. Ilori is well-known for his reimagining of everyday space in a maximalist fashion. Additionally, Ilori’s team focuses on bringing bright colors to their projects and brightening cities around the world.
Ilori’s art starts near Camden’s Percy Street and extends throughout Tottenham Court Road. Furthermore, each pedestrian crossing features geometric patterns that represent the communal spirit and bright neon colors. The unique and bright sidewalks are just a small part of all his work. Not to mention that it is a great way for Londoners to explore the city they live in more often.
Inspired by the crossings created by Ilori, we created an arches carpet pattern. This design features trendy geometric shapes and bright pinks and blues. We also included brown and light-yellow shapes that bring in a little bit of a more neutral tone to the carpet. Just like the crosswalks of Yinka Llori, this carpet design adds a statement to any interior space and looks like a piece of art. This unique carpet is a great option for office buildings or hotel lobbies.
