59 Rivoli is a unique museum to visit in Paris. This building is home to more than 30 artists in residence and hosts concerts on weekends. Inside 59 Rivoli, there is art at every corner. The walls of the grand staircase are covered in graffiti. There are piles and piles of work from the different artists who currently reside there.

In 1999, Gaspard Delanoe, Kalex, and Bruno Dumont opened the cemented-over door of 59 rue de Rivoli in Paris. Previously, the building was abandoned by Credit Lyonnais and the French state for 15 years. The building was a mess, but a dozen artists showed up to help them clean it up. They wanted to get this building to revive an unused space and create a place for artists to create, live, and exhibit their work.

It was only in 2009 that 59 Rivoli officially opened. Le 59 would welcome over 30 artists with their workshops and give them a space to show their work and continue to work on new projects. In the first year, 59 Rivoli welcomed 50,000 visitors and because the third Parisian center for the dissemination of contemporary art.

We recolored the Poetry Slam carpet using 59 Rivoli’s aesthetic as inspiration. This carpet is part of the Graphic collection, which covers a variety of predesigned patterns inspired by geometry, hoops, stripes, three-dimensional grids, and expressive typography. This graffiti carpet brings in the busy and unique aesthetic of 59 Rivoli.

To continue the unique aesthetic of Le 59, we created a material board that features darker-toned materials, such as Tribe by Cortina Leathers, Iron Corten by Neolith, and CU Later Artwork by Decorative Ceiling Tiles. We also decided to include Havergate by Cambria to add just the right amount of texture to the material board.

If you want to add this graffiti carpet or recolor any of our carpet designs, our recolor program is a great option. You can choose any of our nine carpet substrates to take your project to the next level. Additionally, our online tool lets you quickly visualize what the recolor will look like. You can get your carpet in just three weeks. Contact us to learn more about the program.
