Sandwiched between two buildings in Paris’s Pigalle neighborhood is this basketball court that is hard to miss. This bright work of art is the Pigalle Duperre. Ill-Studio and Stéphane Ashpool created this brightly colored court with support from Nike. Instead of primary colors like the past renditions, the basketball court now features a gradient design with purple, pink, yellow, and blue. Additionally, the unique geometric shapes in various bright colors make the space even more inspiring.
The first iteration of the Pigalle Duperre court was in 2009 and has been a hit ever since. In 2017, the court was updated with a lower wall and panels of blue mesh barrier, making it easier for passers-by to take a peek inside the court.
Founded in 2007 by Thomas Subreville and Leonard Vernet, Ill-Studio has worked with various clients. Additionally, the company has worked with design, photography, fashion, installation, and print. Pigalle’s first store opened in 2008, and it is named after the area where Ashpool grew up. The two companies have collaborated since they started sharing an office ten years ago. Ill-Studio designed Pigalle’s visual identity and logo.
Inspired by the gradient design in the 2017’s basketball court, we created a custom carpet. This gradient design carpet features pink, blue, and white gradients. Additionally, we included some geometric shapes reminiscent of motifs on the basketball court. This unique and modern design will be the center of attention in your next interior design project.
