The Fife Arms is a grand Victorian luxury hotel in the heart of Scottish Highlands’ Cairngorms National Park. Known as one of the best hotels in the world, stepping foot into The Fife Arms is a magical experience. The Fife Arms is an interior design and art gallery experience surrounded by the Royal Deeside landscape. The magnificent historic village of Braemar is famous for hosting the British Royal Family and the Scottish Highland Games.
Contemporary art gallerists Iwan and Manuela Wirth renovated the Fife Arms into a five-star luxury hotel. The husband and wife team is famous for creating Durslade Farmhouse, a six-bedroom guesthouse located in Hauser & Wirth Somerset. The couple purchased The Fife Arms in 2014 and renovated the dilapidated complex once owned by Lord Fife in the 1850s. Their plan to renovate the property to its former splendor became an incredible success.
The hotel is phenomenal as it displays more than 12,000 works of artwork that include an original Queen Victoria watercolor painting. The Fife Arms is full of rich history and architectural wonder as the hotel preserves the traditions of the Scottish Highlands in its interior design. The hotel’s grand opening featured Prince Charles, who attended the annual Braemar games with his mother, Queen Elizabeth.
The hotel lobby features a Steinway piano and a grand Richard Jackson sculpture of neon letters. The ceiling also uses a mesmerizing design matching the Scottish green plaid wallpaper. You will notice the hotel staff wearing plaid Scottish tartans to match the theme of the hotel. Many of the decors, such as the vintage lamps, are also in a green tartan design.
The guest rooms include grand Victorian suites to smaller spaces. There are three room categories: Nature, Poetry and Scottish Culture, and the Croft. Each room resembles a royal room in a Scottish castle covered in Venetian chandeliers. The beds are designed by Glencraft, a mattress company that created beds for the royal family for many years.
Guests at the Fife Arms can sometimes work with designer Araminta Campbell on designing their custom tartan. The experience comes as a package deal to consult with Araminta at the Fife Arms. The Fife Arms is also located in the center of Cairngorns National Park, where the Glenshee Ski Center is.
Taking a stroll around the hotel in the sparkling winter snow is a breathtaking encounter. The ski center is Scotland’s largest ski resort, a nationally treasured landmark. The food at Clunie restaurant also has the most exquisite dishes prepared in wood-fired ovens. Cozy and divine, staying at the Fife Arms is a spectacular first-class experience you do not want to miss out on, especially if you’re an interior design enthusiast like ourselves.
