On my last visit to Marseille I was able to admire these two towers, dominating the harborside skyline of Marseille. Zaha Hadid was contracted by shipping company CMA CGM for this tower in 2005 and the building opened in 2010. It was designed to be a gateway to the city, both from land and sea. Jean Nouvel on the other hand just recently completed the La Marseillaise tower in 2018. Named after the city of Marseille and also the French national anthem, the tower is truly an ode to France. He created a bold ombré effect on the gridded concrete facade using 27 different shades of white, blue, and red. (national colors of France)
